PM puts Judicial Selection Committee bill on hold

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he will not continue pursuing the bill that aims the alter the make up of the Judicial Selection Committee before the proposal is reexamined.

 

As per the bill, which has been approved for second and third readings by the Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, proposes to allow the Bar Association to appoint just one representative for the Judicial Selection Committee. Likud ministers have expressed opposition to the legislation, demanding the prime minister to reopen it for discussion. (Moran Azulay)
