2 Israeli based lawyers suspected of stealing NIS 18M from Egyptian banks

The police department's Coastal District Fraud Unit has arrested two lawyers over suspicions that they committed fraud against two Egyptian banks and swindled them out of NIS 18 million ($4.7 million). The two lawyers, residents of Baka al-Jarbiya and Jat, represented the banks in a lawsuit over the controlling interest in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

It is suspected that the two charged the banks for court fees and then took the fees for themselves. The two will be brought before the court for their remand hearing. (Hassan Sha'alan)
