Poll: 22% of Israelis to go abroad this winter

New survey reveals number of men planning overseas vacation this winter 25% higher than number of women; 60% of vacationers plan to spend up to $2,000

Twenty-two percent of Israelis are planning to vacation abroad this winter – an 8% drop compared to the number of Israelis who went abroad last winter, according to a survey conducted by TNS Teleseker.

The poll was commissioned by Index MasterCard, which reviews Israelis' use of credit cards.

According to the survey, the number of people vacationing abroad drops in accordance with their income level: From 27% among those earning above the average salary to 20% among those earning below the average salary.

The survey also reveals that the number of men planning an overseas vacation this winter is about 25% higher than the number of women.

The figures show that 60% of winter vacationers plan to spend up to $2,000; 31% - $2,000-4,000, and 8% plan to spend more than $4,000 during their holiday.

Five percent of respondents over the age of 50 said they would spend more than $5,000, while 15% of the women plan to spend $3,000-5,000 compared to 11% of the men who plan to spend a similar sum.

According to Daniel Cohen, manager of MasterCard's activity in Israel, "Many benefits offered all over the world, through the local companies, change frequently and are time-limited. I advise those going abroad to regularly check the benefits offered by the bank or company which issued their credit card."
