High Court rejects petition against Citizenship law

None

The High Court of Justice denied a petition against the Citizenship Act on Wenesday. The judges, who voted 6:5, wrote that they recognize the right for family reunification but ruled that it does necessarily warrant implementation inside Israel.

The law limits stay periods in Israel of non-residents. Leftist elements claimed it was racist as it bans family reunification and prevents Israeli citizens who married Palestinians from living together. (Aviad Glickman)
