Russia: West seeks to stoke discontent in Iran

Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Western sanctions against Iran were aimed at triggering popular discontent by "strangling" the economy.

Lavrov emphasised Russia's opposition to further UN Security Council sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, saying UN sanctions had "exhausted" their potential. (Reuters)
