Knesset extends Citizenship Law by 1 year

None

The Knesset has approved the government's decision to extend the Citizenship Law, which aims to limit the reunification of Palestinian and Arab-Israeli families, by one year. Thirty-seven Knesset members voted in favor of the measure, while 14 voted against it.

The law authorizes the interior minister to grant citizenship only if the West Bank applicant has made a strong enough case that he identifies with Israel and that he or his family members have cooperated with the State or made a contribution to its security. (Moran Azulay)
