Family: 21-year-old freed by Syrian authorities

The family of a 21-year-old Syrian-American who disappeared for three weeks after returning to Syria from suburban Detroit says he's been released from custody.

Obada Mzaik flew to Damascus from Detroit on Jan. 3 but wasn't seen leaving an immigration checkpoint. According to an uncle in Michigan, the Syrian government released Mzaik to his father Wednesday. Dr. Firas Nashef of Farmington Hills says he's grateful his nephew is back with his family. (AP)
