Haniyeh: Hamas adhering to Mashaal as politburo chief
Hamas prime minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh told London-based al Hayat newspaper following a meeting with the Emir of Qatar Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani that "Hamas will keep supporting Khaled Mashaal as its politburo chief.
Mashaal announced that he will not seek another term, hinting that Haniyeh might contend for the position. However, the movement's Shura Council rejected Mashaal's announcement. (Elior Levy)
