Palestinians escort lost soldier out of village

Combatant loses sight of fellow soldiers during routine operational activity near Ramallah, later returns unharmed. IDF launched inquiry

An IDF combat soldier from the Judea and Samaria Division lost contact with his fellow soldiers during operational activity in the village of Budrus near Ramallah on Wednesday,

Local residents started hurling stones at the vehicles carrying the Armored Corps forces, who entered the village for routine activity.

For a reason yet unknown some of the troops stepped out of their jeeps and one lost contact with his battalion without anyone noticing.

Fortunately, the soldier was not hurt and Palestinian residents escorted him out of the village where he rejoined his friends. He returned to his base unharmed.

Standard protocol during operational activity stipulates that a soldier must maintain eye contact with his force, and on the event he loses sight of his fellow combatants must wait until he is collected.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed the report and noted that the IDF is investigating the incident.
