Judge Asher Grunis named new chief justice

The Judges Selection Committee appointed Judge Asher Grunis as next chief justice of the Supreme Court. Grunis will take office after Supreme Court President Dorit Beinish retires at the end of February.

Seven Committee members supported the appointment, MK David Rotem abstained. Justice Minister Yaakov Ne'eman, and Justice Beinish greeted Grunis for his appointment. (Aviad Glickman)
