Bank Leumi names Rakefet Russak-Aminoach new CEO

Bank's board of directors names head of business division as Galia Maor's successor

Bank Leumi's board of directors has named Rakefet Russak-Aminoach, head of Leumi's Business Division, as the bank's new CEO. Current CEO Galia Maor announced she would be stepping this year, after 17 years.

 

Russak-Aminoach's appointment is pending the approval of the Bank of Israel.

Russak-Aminoach, 46, has an MBA, as well as a BA in Accountancy and an LLB is Law, all from the Tel Aviv University. She has been with the bank for eight years.

 

Chairman of the Leumi Board David Brodet said that he had every confidence that Russak-Aminoach's "proven abilities and talent will help lead the bank and the Leumi towards significant achievements in these challenging times."

 

Maor welcomed the choice as well.

 

Bank Hapolaim, normally Leumi's rival on the banking scene, issued a statement congratulating the new CEO: "We wish to congratulate Rakefet Russak-Aminoach on her appointment. We have known her for many years and appreciate her professionalism and experience.

 

"We have no doubt that she will continue the tradition of true and fierce – but fair – competition, between the banks in Israel, for the good of the customers, the banking system and the Israeli market as a whole."
