Barak discusses Iran with Japanese counterpart

Defense Minister Ehud Barak discussed regional security issues with his Japanese counterpart Naoki Tanaka on Thursday. "The international community must join forces to stop Iran from achieving nuclear weapons by crippling sanctions."

Addressing the Syria issue, the defense minister said it was a matter of weeks before the Assad regime would fall and that Israel is monitoring the transfer of advanced weapons systems to Lebanon. "Assad's fall will be a blow to the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah axis," he noted. (Moran Azulay)
