EU's Ashton concerned over Khader Adnan's health

The European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton issued a statement Saturday saying that the EU is concerned over reports of the deteriorating health condition of Khader Adnan, an Islamic Jihad member held in administrative detention in Israel and who has been on hunger strike for more than two months.

Ashton said the EU is concerned about "the extensive use by Israel of administrative detention without formal charge." Adnan is one of the Islamic Jihad's leaders in the West Bank and has served as the movement's spokesman for the past few years. (Ynet)
