Rabbi Lau to TA mayor: Reverse decision on Shabbat buses

Tel Aviv's chief rabbi, Yisrael Meir Lau, asked Mayor Ron Huldai to reverse the city council's decision to seek a Transportation Ministry permit to run buses on Shabbat.

Lau said he was filled with a deep sense of "pain and disappointment" after learning of the decision and called on Huldai to follow in the footsteps of past mayors who "did not allow the candle of Shabbat to burn out. (Kobi Nahshoni)
