'Assad assured Russia he would only seek one term'
Diplomatic sources have told Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai that Syrian President Bashar Assad promised Russia that it was his intention to announce that he would only run for one term in office if he wins the elections scheduled for the next few months.
This, in spite of the fact that the new constitution allows him to present his candidacy for two terms. (Roi Kais)
