Chavez has operation, no official word on health

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has come out of cancer surgery overnight in Cuba and is recovering in hospital, two sources said on Tuesday.

Prominent opposition-leaning Venezuelan journalist Nelson Bocaranda said the surgery was exploratory and that the 57-year-old Chavez was at Havana's Cimeq hospital. (Reuters)
