Report: Iran summons Azeri ambassador over defense deal with Israel

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has summoned Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhundov to explain reports claiming that Azerbaijan signed a $1.5 billion defense deal with Israel, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

According to the report, the ambassador said that his government will not allow the equipment bought from Israel to be used against another country, especially Iran. He reiterated his country's commitment to bolstering ties with the Islamic Republic. (Dudi Cohen)
