Tax Authority audited Ne'eman's finances
Tax Authority holds covert investigation into justice minister's financial assets; probe focused on assets accumulated prior to cabinet appointment
The Tax Authority conducted a covert audit of Justice Minister Yaakov Ne'eman's assets and income, Ynet learned Wednesday. The investigation was tied to his time with Herzog, Fox and Ne'eman – one of Israel's largest law firms, and prior to his appointment as justice minister in 2009.
In 1996, while serving his first term as justice minister, Ne'eman was indicted on two counts of filing a false statement with the Supreme Court.

Neeman resigned when then-Attorney-General Michael Ben Yair announced the investigation. He was later cleared of all charges by the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court.
Tax Authority officials and Ne'eman's spokesperson both refused to comment on the investigation.
Herzog, Fox and Neeman are one of the largest law firms in Israel. The law firm has dealt with many important clients such as AIPAC, Markstone Capital Group, former Prime Minister's Ariel Sharon, Ehud Olmert and present Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
