US: North Korea to suspend nuclear activities

None

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says North Korea has agreed to suspend nuclear activities and accept a moratorium on nuclear and long-range missile tests. She called the move a "modest first step" in the right direction.

Clinton was testifying Wednesday before a House Appropriations panel. Her testimony came just an hour after the State Department announced the breakthrough in negotiations with the secretive communist nation. (AP)
