Mekorot, Israel’s national water company and the City of Akron, Ohio, have singed a deal to work on water systems, wastewater management and treatment and water security, Ynet learned Thursday. As part of the deal, the parties will also explore expanding energy sources. Mekorot will be sending experts from WaTech, the Entrepreneurship and Partnership Center for Water Technologies to Akron, where they will assist in the development of water infrastructure and related business ventures. Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic, who recently visited Israel, said: "Not only did we come back with a deal with Mekorot WaTech, but we also were introduced to other energy related businesses that are now interested in introducing their technologies to the United States," he said. The Memorandum of Understanding inked between Mekorot and Akron made the latter the first city in the United States to secure a deal with WaTech in the field of water system security.
