Judge Rubinstein: Arabs not obligated to sing anthem
Supreme Court Justice Elyakim Rubinstein sent a letter to all Israeli judges, defending his colleague, Justice Salim Joubran, who was harshly criticized for choosing not to sing the national anthem in the inauguration ceremony of the new president of the Supreme Court.
Rubinstein argued that Arab should not be demanded to sing lyrics they cannot identify with. "We welcome them to choose to join us in the anthem, but we cannot demand it" wrote Rubinstein in the letter. (Aviad Glickman)
