The Afghan Whigs coming to Israel

Reunited American rock band to perform in Tel Aviv's Barbie club June 15. Lead singer Greg Dulli says he misses performing on stage, singing band's old hits

Coming to Israel – American rock band The Afghan Whigs will perform in Tel Aviv's Barbie club on June 15th. Veteran producer Shuki Weiss was responsible for bringing the reunited band to Israel, and limited amount of tickets will presale for NIS 220. Members on the distribution list of the Barbie Club and the production company on Facebook will enjoy tickets for a lower price of NIS 196.

Lead singer Greg Dulli has become a frequent visitor to Israel, visiting three times in recent years – twice with his band "Twilight Singers" and a third visit as part of the duo "Gutter Twins," which he created along with musician and singer Mark Lanegan.

This time Dulli will be returning with his original band, which was formed in the 80s and has released six albums, becoming a favorite among alternative rock fans.

The band broke up about a decade ago and Dulli turned to pursue other projects. It reunited again five years ago, but the move was short-lived. Now, the band has reunited once again, and is going on a world tour in which it will perform old songs along with songs that were never performed before.

A statement released by the production company quoted Dulli as saying that the Afghan Whigs will mostly focus on live performances, adding that being on stage was always the members' favorite part of being in a band and the time in which they felt most free. Dulli noted that he missed performing with the band's old songs.
