2 trains collide in Poland, injuring 60 people

Polish media are reporting that two trains have collided in southern Poland, injuring around 60 people. The all-news station TVN24 said the accident occurred Saturday evening in southern Poland and broadcast images of white and green train cars that are warped and appeared to be knocked off their tracks.

The collision occurred in Szczekociny, a small town in southern Poland close to the larger town of Zawiercie. Rescue efforts are under way and TVN24 said Prime Minister Donald Tusk was on his way to the site of the accident. Police inspector Andrzej Swieboda said some people were probably killed in the accident, but that it was too early to say with certainty. (AP)
