Arab media outlets have been reporting extensively about a video documenting Syrian snipers firing at mourners in the Daraa district in early February. The clip shows a father and son lying helpless on the road. The boy appears to be dead as the shooting around the two continues.
Father and son helpless as Syrian snipers target mourners
At the end of the video, a man is seen pulling the overwhelmed father to safety. The boy's body is left in the middle of the road as the firing continues.
"This time it's a Syrian boy who was murdered by an enemy as cruel as the Israeli forces," one website said.
A Saudi news anchor could not contain her shock and horror and began crying as she read out the report which again compared the case to that of al-Dura.
Jamal al-Dura, and his 12-year-old son Mohammed, became the symbol of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, when the two were caught in a fire exchange in the Netzarim Junction. But while the Palestinians accused Israel
for the boy's death, Israeli officials claimed he was hit by Palestinian fire. The authenticity of a video allegedly documenting the event is still under dispute.
