US condemnts Gaza rocket fire, calls on sides to restore calm
The United States said it was "deeply concerned" by the renewed violence in southern Israel and has "condemned" the rocket fire from Gaza into the Jewish state.
"We are deeply concerned by the renewal of violence in Southern Israel," State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland said in a statement. "We condemn in the strongest terms the rocket fire from Gaza by terrorists into southern Israel… we call on both sides to make every effort to restore calm." (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
