Judges are delivering verdicts in the International Criminal Court's first trial, against a Congolese militia leader accused of sending child soldiers to kill and be killed in a brutal ethnic conflict.
Thomas Lubanga, who insists he is an innocent patriot, faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if he is convicted. Wednesday's landmark verdicts come 10 years after the court was established as a permanent tribunal of last resort to prosecute perpetrators of atrocities in countries unwilling or unable to try them.
