The wife initially denied the accusation, claiming a friend had borrowed the car. The husband turned to a vehicle tracking company, which located the abandoned car in a grove in central Israel. The husband was surprised to find contraceptives, drugs and alcohol in the vehicle.

The wife's friend told the husband (36) she had borrowed the car, but phoned the next day to admit she had lied to him and that his wife had been in the car with her lover.

The husband allegedly hit the wife after demanding to use her cell phone to call the lover. She was evacuated to a hospital with a severe facial contusion and underwent surgery.

During his interrogation the husband said he suspected his wife was cheating on him and that he merely tried to grab her phone during a heated argument. He claimed he had treated her like a "princess."
