Belarus executes prisoner behind subway bombing

Vladislav Kovalev, one of two death row prisoners in Belarus responsible for a fatal subway attack in Minsk in 2011 was executed, his family said Saturday citing a letter from the country's Supreme Court.
Fifteen people were killed and more than 160 were injured in the central Minsk metro station explosion of April 11, 2011 at Oktyabrskaya. Belarus is the only European country to apply the death penalty. (AFP)
