Mohamed Merah, who is suspected of killing seven people in France since March 11, said he refused to become a suicide bomber for al-Qaeda but accepted a "general assignment" to carry out an attack in the country, French Interior Minister Claude Gueant said.
The man "explained how he received instructions from al-Qaeda during his stay in Pakistan," the minister said. (AFP)
