Three rockets were fired at southern Israel from the Gaza Strip Wednesday night.
A mortar shell was fired at an IDF force patrolling near the Kisufim checkpoint, not far from the Gaza border fence.
The troops fired at the source of the rocket fire. No injuries or damage were reported among the soldiers.
Palestinian sources reported that around the same time, an explosion was heard in the area.
Moments before the indecent, a mortar shell exploded in an open area in Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.
Earlier, a Qassam rocket was fired at the western Negev, exploding within Eshkol Regional Council limits.
No injuries or damage were reported as a result of the rockets' explosions.
