Madonna adds second 'Concert for Peace' in Tel Aviv

Queen of pop sets additional concert date in Israel to kick off her international tour; says concert will 'honor peace efforts in Middle East, help people come together'

The timeless queen of pop announced Wednesday that she would be giving a second show in Israel on May 31 for a special cause. Madonna has dubbed this new show a “Concert for Peace,” and has invited several organizations that are working for peace in the Middle East to attend.

“Music is so universal and if there’s any chance that through my performance I can bring further attention and enlightenment to honor the peace efforts in the Middle East and help people come together, it would be an honor for me,” Madonna said in a statement posted on her fan club website.

“It is my way of thanking those who are making so much effort toward bringing peace to the Middle East,” she added.

After three weeks of negotiations between the Israeli production company responsible for Madonna's visit and the pop idol's team, the impossible task was finally completed making Madonna's second concert in Israel possible. Ticket agencies in Israel have reported that the demand for concert tickets is high.

Madonna will kick off her international tour in Tel Aviv on May 29 while her latest album “MDNA” is scheduled to be released globally March 26. The “Concert for Peace” is due to take place at Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv.

Madonna last performed in Israel in 2009, when she completed her “Sticky and Sweet” tour in Tel Aviv.
