French PM: There was no evidence against Merah

None

French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said Friday morning that there was "no evidence to apprehend Mohammed Merah", Gunman responsible for shooting in Jewish school in Toulouse, killing seven.

In an interview to RTL radio, Fillion said that the authorities could not arrest the terrorist before he acted. "In a country like ours, it is illegal to constantly monitor a person who has yet to commit a crime without a court order. We live in a state of law". (AFP)
