Prosor: Peace crucial to nuke-free Mideast

UN Ambassador Ron Prosor says Israel will not attend a conference on turning the Middle East into a zone free of all weapons of mass destruction until there is peace throughout the region.

In May 2010, the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty's 189 members called for convening such a conference in 2012. The conference is expected to take place later this year in Finland. Prosor told reporters Friday that before there is "comprehensive peace in the region ... we feel that this is something that is absolutely not relevant." (AP)
