Did Turkish TV copy Channel 10's intros?

Israel's Channel 10 News files $1 million copyright infringements suit against Kibris Genc TV; says news shows' intros 'practically identical'

Israel's Channel 10 has filed a copyright infringements lawsuit against Turkey's Kibris Genc TV, alleging that the latter has copied the channel's entire array of opening credits' musical numbers for their news shows.

The $1 million damages suit was joined by composer Irad Eshel, who created most of the channel's musical intros, and as such has shared ownership of the copyrights.

The international copyright violation suit was filed after the Israeli news channel discovered that the Turkish TV station's news shows were carrying intros that are "practically identical" to those used by Channel 10.

"If this wasn’t theft it would be hilarious," a Channel 10 source told Ynet. "If you watch the Turkish channel and close your eyes, you could swear you were tuned in to Channel 10."
