Man accused of stealing rifle from sleeping officer
A 24-year-old Lod resident was indicted at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court over suspicions that he stole a weapon from an officer who fell asleep on a train.
A train inspector who noticed the man asked if the weapon belonged to him, at which point the man tried to avoid answering the question. The rifle involved was an M-16 assault rifle. During his interrogation he claimed that he wanted to teach the officer a lesson – to not leave his weapon unattended. (Ra'anan Ben-Zur)
