Israeli officials noted that the increased deployment of Egyptian security forces in the Sinai Peninsula was coordinated with Israel, and was authorized in advance.
Earlier, Palestinian news agency Ma'an said Israel allowed Egyptian officials to dispatch seven military regiments to the Sinai in order to curb the growing terror threat in the region. (Attila Somfalvi)
