Mali's President Amadou Toumani Toure has handed in his letter of resignation, Burkina Faso's foreign minister, a leading mediator for West Africa's ECOWAS bloc, said on Sunday.
The resignation paves the way for the soldiers who ousted Toure in a March 22 coup to stand aside as pledged in a deal last week that calls for the transfer of power to the president of Mali's National Assembly. (Reuters)
