Peres asks Obama to grant Pollard clemency
President Shimon Peres sent a personal letter to US President Barack Obama in which he asked him to grant clemency to convicted spy Jonathan Pollard on humanitarian grounds.
Peres noted in the letter that Israel is very concerned about Pollard's health condition. Pollard has been jailed for almost 27 years in the United States. Last week, he was transferred to the prison's medical ward after his condition deteriorated. (Yair Altman)
