Brigadier general shot dead in Syria
Syrian Brigadier General Jamal al-Khaled was shot dead on Wednesday while he was heading to his workplace in Aqraba in the Damascus district. The report did not elaborate any further.
According to UN estimates, more than 9,000 people have been killed in violence across Syria since anti-regime protests broke out in March 2011, while monitors put the number at more than 10,000, mostly civilians. (AFP)
