Israeli film to compete in Cannes' student festival

Eti Tsicko's movie Dog Leash is among 15 short films accepted to Cinéfondation student film competition in Cannes Festival; 'very curious to see the audience's reaction,' says filmmaker

Eti Tsicko's movie Dog Leash was accepted to Cinéfondation student film competition in Cannes Festival.

Tsicko, from Tel Aviv University, will compete against 14 other young filmmakers, including a Lebanese student.

The 26-minute movie depicts the life of Marina, a 36-year-old woman. Dog Leash is Tsicko's third movie and was produced as part of her studies in TAU. Two of her previous short films – Daswarili (Stained) and Audition – were presented in many film festivals in the past. Nowadays Tsicko is working on a full length feature film.

Dog Leash, which was among the 15 films selected from over 1,700 submissions, stars Maya Gasner, Maor Schwietzer and Yosef Carmon. "I am very excited for myself and the entrie crew who worked on the movie, Tsicko told Ynet.

"It is an honor to be one of the 15 candidates in the competition. I am also very curious to see the audience's reaction to the film, which is not easy to watch and I assume it will stir some controversy," she added.

Among the other candidates in Cinéfondation are short films from the United State, Argentina, Britain, Belgium, France, Czech Republic, Japan, Cuba, Romania, Denmark and Lebanon."
