Netanyahu: We say the names to commemorate souls

None

President Shimon Peres, speaking in the Knesset service titled "Unto Every Person There is a Name," told the story of his family, which perished in the holocaust, and read the names of his family members. "Those who stayed behind were brutally murdered by the Nazis," said Peres. "They were brought into a wooden synagogue and put into flames."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in his speech that this is the first time he is attending the ceremony without his father in law, Shmuel Ben-Artzi, who passed away last November. "He would listen to the names carefully," recounted Netanyahu, "He believed it was a way to commemorate the souls that were lost." (Shahar Chai)
