Socialist challenger Francois Hollande scored between 28.4 and 29.3 percent and incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy between 25.5 and 27 percent in the first round of French presidential elections on Sunday, according to projections based on initial vote counts by several polling agencies.
Far-right leader Marine Le Pen scored a surprisingly strong 18.2 to 20.0 percent.(Reuters)
