Report: Egypt bars protesters from reaching IDF memorial in Sinai

Egyptian police and army forces in eastern el-Arish have barred vehicles of protesters from reaching an IDF monument in the town Sheikh Zowaiid. The protesters planned to paint the monument with the colors of the Egyptian flag, the newspaper Al-Youm Al-Sabaa reported.

The statue was erected in memory of Israeli troops who were killed in a helicopter crash back when the Sinai peninsula was under Israeli control. Egypt promised to preserve the memorial as part of the peace agreement signed between the two nations. (Roi Kais)
