Taiwan cuts 2012 growth forecast to 3.4%

The Taiwan government has lowered its economic growth forecast for 2012 to 3.4% amid weak global demand.

The government said Monday that Taiwan's economy grew only 0.4% in the January-March quarter, falling short of the 1.2% forecast in February. It said the economy is expected to sustain relatively healthy growth throughout the year, with the global economy expected to stage a steady, albeit slow recovery. (AP)
