The US Geological Survey says two moderately sized earthquakes have shaken up northern Chile. No injuries or damages were reported after the twin temblors, measuring magnitude 5.5 and 4.7, struck early Monday.
The first quake registered at 3:39 am local time (0739 GMT), and was centered in the ocean 15 miles (25 kilometers) off Coquimbo port and 285 miles (460 kilometers) north of the capital of Santiago. The second hit at 6:23 am local time (1023 GMT) 35 miles (57 kilometers) north of Antofagasta in Chile's extreme north. (AP)
