Saudi Arabia: Egypt thwarted Iranian plot to assassinate envoy
Saudi newspapers are reporting that Egypt had thwarted an Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to Cairo, Ahmed Abdul Aziz Katan. A Saudi diplomat said that Egyptian security forces have informed Saudi Arabia that they have detained three Iranians.
Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia recalled its ambassador from Cairo and closed its embassy in Egypt. (AFP)
