Speaking at the first meeting of his Yesh Atid Party at the Diaspora Museum in Tel Aviv Tuesday, Yair Lapid outlined his five-year plan to make IDF service compulsory for the country's Ultra-Orthodox.
According to the plan, for a period of five years the Ultra-Orthodox sector will receive an exemption from military service, but unlike today will be permitted to join the work force. At the end of the five years, the exemption will come to an end at every citizen will be drafted at age 18 for military or national service. (Attila Somfalvi)
