Missing soldier's body found next to his rifle

The body of missing IDF private Neta Brand, who went missing on Wednesday, was found Thursday morning in the Beit Shemesh area. Brand's service weapon was found near the body, which bore a bullet hole.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said Military Police launched an investigation into the death of the Givati Brigade serviceman, was from Givat Yeshayahu, a moshav in the Valley of Elah, which is just south of Beit Shemesh.
Hundreds of police officers, soldiers and volunteers had searched for Brand since the early hours of Wednesday morning. K-9 units also assisted in the search.
Brand left his house in Givat Yeshayahu at about 8 am with his service rifle. His family feared he may harm himself.
Military sources told Ynet Wednesday the reasons for Brand's disappearance are most likely personal and that the matter is not security-related.
