Israel receives fourth submarine from Germany

The Israeli Navy took delivery on Thursday of a fourth submarine which was purchased from Germany, in a ceremony held in the city of Kiel, Germany. Defense Ministry Director-General Udi Shani participated in the ceremony along with several senior naval officers.

The submarine, which will be delivered to Israel in 2013, is one of two which Israel ordered, while the fifth submarine is still under construction. Meanwhile, Germany recently confirmed it has signed a contract with Israel for a sixth submarine. (Yoav Zitun)
