Military Rabbinate dismisses State Comptroller's report

In email distributed to 170 military rabbis, Commander of the Military Rabbinate base instructs to 'carry on with divine service'; says comptroller's report already forgotten

Commander of the Military Rabbinate base in Zrifin Lieutenant-Colonel Amir Rosenbaum recently sent an email to 170 military rabbis, in which he dismissed State Comptroller Micha Lindenstruass' report, calling military rabbis to disregard it.

"My friends, No one remembers what the comptroller published a few days ago," he wrote, adding: "Be encouraged to carry on with your divine duty in the units themselves. We are here to help you as much as possible."

Sources in the military rabbinate expressed surprise over the email, which was sent in wide circulation. "It's no secret that there's been tension between the Military Rabbinate and the Education Corps, which made claims against our activities, and Rosenbaum's statement expresses this sentiment," said one of the sources.

The State Comptroller's report criticized the lack of proportion in the scope and breadth of educational activity that IDF soldiers receive from the Military Rabbinate, compared with educational activity they are supposed to receive from the Education Corps.
